Okay, so everyone seems to be hailing Lily Allen’s new song as a feminist anthem and if you wanna do that then that’s cool whatever it’s not for me to decide. But if you want a feminist song/video tackling misogyny and racism then you should definitely watch and listen to That’s Alright by Laura Mvula. Not only is it a good, catchy, singalong song that tells you it’s okay to be who you are, but the video itself demonstrates how black people in the media and entertainment industries are used as props, simple entertainment for white people.
I especially like when she gets to the chorus and she’s singing “Who made you the centre of the universe?” at the all-white audience. A really brilliant yet underrated song and video.

She’s joining my monster cast as a Light/Void Elemental, who’s seen some shit and other than that I still need to play with how she interacts with the rest of those guys.

THIS IS SO FUCKING GOOD.
I already plugged this over at my art tumblr, but seriously, if you haven’t read this, it’s amazing. It’s like 28 pages and has more characterization and subtext and implied backstory than I can imagine cramming into a comic twice this length.
I read “Boys’ Night” about a month ago and still can’t stop thinking about it, especially the last 6 or so pages.

Tuesday tips — Layer Mask
Layer Mask is one of my favorite and definitely one the most useful and powerful Photoshop tool. It allows you to modify a layer without changing the image of the layer itself.
How it works
BLACK — hide pixels
WHITE — shows pixels
GREYSCALE — reduce pixel opacity
One of the many ways I use layer mask is for all my writing/lettering. For me, I find it easier to click “x” to change foreground/background color while using the same brush (so my edges is consistent); rather than switching between brush or eraser tool (sometimes I use different ones). -
